Last time I will be posting this year. I have enjoyed my blogging time so far and plan to continue as long as I can.

Will be doing a few errands today. Plan on seeing a movie this afternoon and be home before dark. I do not want to be out with all the drunks. Mom and me will have a quiet evening at home, we will play some Scrabble and cards. Imagine that at midnight there will be a few fireworks and gunshots in our area. I fill sorry for the animals who wonder what in the heck we are doing.

Artie Shaw passed away. Cool guy.

Thousands are dead from the Asian Tsunami's. There are probably going to thousands more found dead and more will die from injuries or disease.

Sad, sad time. And I feel bad for complaining about a measly headache.

Wednesday, December 29, 2004

Jerry Orbach and Susan Sontag have died. Wonder who will be next.

I know its silly to believe that things come in threes, but I do.

Tuesday, December 28, 2004

My sinuses have been giving me trouble the past couple days. As has my depression. In both cases, it is not severe.

Got two Mystery science Theater 3000 movies (Eegah and Beginning of the end), two George Carlin CD's, a AC/DC CD, a Frank Sinatra CD and Luigi's mansion for my gamecube for Christmas. Nice haul. My mom liked the things I gave her, two calendars, a book on one of her favorite painters and two DVD's.

Saturday, December 25, 2004

Saw the movie "The Aviator" this afternoon. It was a pretty good movie, was better then I had expected it to be. Although it was long, close to three hours, it held my attention. Cate Blanchett did a great job as Katherine Hepburn, though I am not a fan of Hepburn. Gwen Stefani should stick with her bad music. If you are going to play someone like Jean Harlow, as least make some attempt to sound like the person you are portraying. I can only imagine Ms. Harlow is rolling in her grave over the casting choice.
Merry Christmas. May you have a nice day and get at least one thing you wanted. If not, you can always plot revenge and get them back on New Years by lighting firecrackers outside their window at 3 am.

Thursday, December 23, 2004

Frigid temperatures have been around for a couple days and don't seem to be leaving anytime soon.

Had to do errands last night, including getting some gas. It wasn't very pleasant getting out and about but we got everything done.

Tuesday, December 21, 2004

I officially hate winter. I hate the hot parts of summer and I don't care who knows. I hate the fact we don't have enough cash to replace the car. Well that's enough hate before Christmas.

Finally got my copy of Family Guy The Freakin' Sweet Collection DVD today. Thought it would never arrive. Can't wait to watch it. It has the restored version of Road to Rhode Island.

Saturday, December 18, 2004

This morning was nice and clear and right now it is cooler then it was this morning and the clouds have moved in.

The car is idling rough and dies if we sit too long. We have to put it in neutral and rev the engine to keep it from dying. Will have to get it fixed when we can, don't know when that will be.

With the weather change and other things have put me in a blue mood.

Today was the last show Mike Murphy did. He retired after many years in radio. I view this with mixed feelings. Had felt for at least a year that he should just retire because the quality of his shows weren't as good it had once been. There is no one else in the Kansas City area that does anything like he does. So I will have to turn to the net for my paranormal fix. I will be grateful not hear Sean Hannity or "Dr." Laura commercials anymore. May end up tuning the radios in the house to a Topeka am station. Good bye Mike, may the UFO's come and take you to space and bring you back safely.

Congrats to Liv Tyler on the birth of her son. Her husband, Royston Langdon singer of the band Spacehog (whos Chinese Album is one of my favorite albums), and her have been married since March of 2003. Wow, Steven Tyler is now a grandpas, wonder if he's gonna spoil the kid.

Monday, December 13, 2004

Looks like we are going to have cooler weather for the rest of the week. Temperatures are going to dip down into the twenties during the night, with the daytime temps in the thirties. Nice December weather, the stuff headaches are made of.

Friday, December 10, 2004

Had some work done on the car this morning. New brakes, oil change, tire rotation, new tire, new belt and tune up. We had one tire that needed to be filled up one to three times a week so we figured it was better to just replace it then try then fix it. Breakfast out, a little shopping, bit of waiting and three hours later we were done. One of the mechanics was a guy that fixed our roof nearly three years ago. Not sure if thats a good sign or not. Could be nothing.

Wednesday, December 01, 2004

It was in the twenties when I woke up this morning. The high for the day was in the low forties. Was able to get some laundry done. Spent much of the day getting caught up on things, including spending some much needed time working on an afghan I started crocheting months ago. Kept putting off working on it and now I am inching ever closer to getting it done.

My Christmas shopping is done. Have only one order that I am waiting on. Will get a tree up soon.

The snow we got last week didn't last very long. Had a bad headache yesterday and was hoping that meant warmer weather was coming, but I guess not. It didn't do much of anything yesterday but it started to lightly snow last night. Right now it is snowing and the flakes are big, not much of it is sticking to the ground.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004

It started to lightly rain last night, just after I got home from an errand. Sometime later it began to snow. The storm not only had lighting, but it had thunder as well. Power was knocked out a couple times. The snow has for the most part stopped, leaving us with about three to four inches of wet snow. Dry snow is another creature unto itself.

Mom's commute to work was more than an hour, mainly because of nutty drivers and accidents. She may come home earlier than first planned due to the weather.

Tuesday, November 23, 2004

Chiefs suck. They lost last night. Bunch of lousy boneheads. I give up on them for good.

Sunday, November 21, 2004

Kansas beat Missouri in college football, the Missouri team really sucks this season. The game wasn't really close. Maybe next year they will do better.

Chiefs play tomorrow and I bet they will lose.

Got most of my Christmas shopping done, have a couple more things to buy and then I am done.

Thursday, November 18, 2004

Will be doing some online Christmas shopping this weekend. I don't want to shop at the malls. In fact I am going to be avoiding a lot of places once we get past Thanksgiving. People get more insane at this time of year then they typically are the rest of the year.

Tuesday, November 16, 2004

G4TechTv officially sucks!!! The two channels merge in spring and the shows have been heavy in favor of G4, which only had one show I ever watched faithfully. Well, they move everyone from Techtv down to L.A. and now have fired a few people. Although those who managed to survive are saying the show "The screensvaers" is going to survive, I have to wonder. I can understand firing the new guy Alex, he wasn't that good. But fire Yoshi? I think what they are going to do is get rid of everything that was good about Techtv and throw it away. What you are going to end up with is a huge pile of dung that will fill the air with a mighty stench. It isn't surprising, though. Companies really don't care about what the customer really wants they are satisfied to let the customer have what they can make due with.

Sunday, November 14, 2004

Scott Peterson is guilty. Like duh.

Yesterday was nice and today is cloudy.

Chiefs suck, again. Whcih isn't news to anyone.

Thursday, November 11, 2004

Yasser Arafat passed away last night. I had heard on the news earlier in the week that he was sick and was close to death for the past couple days. Wonder if his replacement will have an impact like he had.

We got some rain yesterday and are likely to get some more today. Don't know what the forecast is for the weekend yet.

Was going to purchase Shrek 2, but reading reviews on how crappy the dvd is, I will be keeping my money and maybe just rent it some day. Movie studios just can't seem to do good with the movies they put on dvd sometimes. There a lot of really bad movies that are availibe on dvd, yet there are some great movies that aren't. If they really wanted to make fans happy, they would run and start putting out some of the older movies on dvd. I don't even care if some of the disks don't have much extras, I just want them on dvd. I guess they have the mentality that younger people don't want to watch older movies, but that's not true.

Wednesday, November 10, 2004

It's not even Thanksgiving and once again everyone is rushing Christmas. It's bad enough that they have Halloween crap up even before my birthday. But anyway.

Tuesday, November 09, 2004

Had a bad headache yesterday, but sill got out and cleaned the gutters in the backyard. Swept the basement and garage today. Also did some organizing of the things in the garage.

They say it will probably rain Wednesday or Thursday. So I am glad I got out and did the gutters.

Monday, November 08, 2004

The chiefs suck and they will forever more.

Wednesday, November 03, 2004

Yesterday I voted and woke up with Bozo as President for another 4 years. Nice, just what we needed. He really pulled the wool over our eyes. He doesn't have to worry about being voted out in four years so he can unleash his full fury. Well it isn't his fury, it's his parties fury. I don't think he's smart enough to look both ways before crossing the street. Bush makes Dan Quayle look like a MENSA member. Good GOD, what has this country done.

This is the third week we have had cloudy and rainy weather ad I'm about sick of it. I would like to order about 2-3 weeks of cool, dry weather with sunshine and only occasional partly cloudiness maybe full clouds for brief periods of time. With pay extra for rush delivery.

Monday, November 01, 2004

Yesterday was Halloween and only had four kids come to the door. I am not sure I want to go to this much trouble next year if it's not going to be worth it. I saw kids that were a little to old to be out trick-or-treating, being chauffeured around in an SUV. The lazy kids looked like they were about 16 years old too.

The Chiefs won, the Redskins lost.

It was nice in the morning, then turned cloudy in the afternoon and rained in the evening.

The time change back to standard time happened yesterday. This thing should be abolished. No need for it anymore.

Thursday, October 28, 2004

Saw a couple minutes of the evening news and saw a report about the trial I was almost a juror on. The defense is, and its not surprising, going to try and pull all the stops out to get the guy off. He was claiming he had some mental defect that made him do it. Well there are ways to get treatment and some are even free, so I don't buy that. Now he's saying he has post tramatic stress from a bad childhood in which there was violence in the home. Well goodness. There are lots of people who have worse childhoods then his and they didn't commit five counts of capital murder. I doubt I will follow the trial that closely, but I will pay attention if and when they reach a verdict.
Got an inch of rain earlier in the week and got about half an inch of rain this morning. Overslept by 30 minutes this morning.

Wednesday, October 27, 2004

THE RED SOX HAVE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE RED SOX HAVE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never in my entire life did I EVER think I would witness a miricle of the Boston Red Sox winning the world series. They have been twice since I was born but haven't won since now. Yippeeee.

BTW, New York Yankees suck (big time), St Louis Cardinals suck, Hockey sucks and Soccer sucks.

Thank you, now off to bed.
Found that I did not get picked for jury duty. Of the six groups, they dismissed group F and did not pick anyone from my group. I was in group A, most of the jurors were from group C, a few from groups B and E.

Saturday, October 23, 2004

Went to Topeka today. Mom is into genealogy, so we went to a research library so she could look up some things. Haven't gone to Topeka in several weeks.

Have a couple small projects to take care of tomorrow. Will do some things in the coming week that I can do by myself. Doing so will free up some time on the weekend to do something else. Need to get up and do more around the house.

Friday, October 22, 2004

It has been cloudy and misting all week. Hope the weekend brings the sun.

Still don't know if I have been picked to serve on the jury yet. I do know that they are questioning the 4th group (there are 6 groups in total). At this rate they might not start the trial until November. May not know until then.

Tuesday, October 19, 2004

Betty Hill, who along with her husband Barney, had a UFO experience some years ago in New Hampshire (or was it Vermont), has passed away. Though I have an interest in ufology, I don't know if I believe the Hills story.

Friday, October 15, 2004

I got out of court at 2:40 yesterday. Didnt have lunch, but the lawyers had something delivered in like they did Wednesday evening. How special for tem, the bastards. They want people to do their civic duty and serve on a jury but we get a pittance amount for service and milage and we dont get snything delivered in for meals. We don't get nice seats to sit on, no we get hard benches and meals out of vending machines. And there is almost nothing downtown in the way of restaurants, and there should be something. I can only go to Subway so many times before it gets old.

I pray I don't not get picked. I have served on juries twice and will be willing to do it again, but not for this case. I do not think I can give up 5 or more weeks of my life and not come out drained. With it being a death penalty case, I can't send someone to death without it being on my conscience until the day I die. I just couldn't do it, it would eat me up knowing I had done it. If by some chance I get picked to be on the jury, and I hope to hell it doesnt happen, I don't know what I would do.

Will find out next week if I get picked for the jury.

Thursday, October 14, 2004

Hardly slept last night. I am lucky if I got 4 hours of sleep total. Have no idea what time I will get out of court today. Had they not screwed around Tuesday, we would have finished yesterday. But because of the late day yesterday and the half day Tuesday, I have to make a third trip downtown and I still don't know, but I can only hope, that I am on the jury or not.

Wednesday, October 13, 2004

Did not get out of the court house until 10:15 pm. Yes, you read that right. Did a couple errands after mom picked me up. Long day of hurry up and wait and sitting on hard benches. I've taken a shower and off to bed. Just hope I can sleep.

Tuesday, October 12, 2004

Got home from jury duty earlier then expected. Have to go back tomorrow, which is a pain in the ass. Wish I had just done regular jury duty. Funny moment in the jury lounge, the noon news came on and the lead story was the trial I am up for jury duty for. One of the clerks came in and turned off the tv.

Glad I took an umbrella, was walking back to the courthouse from an early lunch break and it began to rain. Even now it is still raining. Will get ready for tomorrows part three of jury duty and take a shower tonight.

Tomorrow if I end up getting out of jury duty early again, I might head off the the main library and read magazines until I can get a ride home.

Finally got rid of my headache.
Have jury duty, part two, this morning. Everything is up in the air until I know if I will on the jury that will hear the trial.

Got some rain yesterday. It was a light rain most of the day, don't think it amounted to much.

Almost missed getting the trash out. For some reason, I assumed wrongly that the trash wouldnt be picked up. Went back to get my Walkman from my room and hear the sounds of the trash pickup, rushed downstairs and just managed to get all the trash out before they picked up.

Attempted to get cash at the bank last night and then remembered that it was a Federal holiday and the bank was closed. Will get some cash this morning before I head downtown to do jury duty.

Monday, October 11, 2004

Got a one-two- punch this morning when I logged on to my ISP. Found that Christopher Reeve and Ken Caminiti had both died. Although I was never a big fan of Mr. Reeve, many in my generation will remember him always as Superman. I saw at least the first couple in the theaters when I was younger. I know he made other movies like "Somewhere in time" and "Death Trap" (Think thats the name of it). Mr. Caminiti was a good ball player. Had had him on at least a couple fantasy baseball teams during the years he played.

Sunday, October 10, 2004

My current favorite cd is "The Delivery Man" by Elvis Costello & The Imposters. Favorite songs are "Either Side Of The Same Town", "Monkey To Man" and "The Judgement". It is rare that I buy a cd based on the strength of one song, sometimes I buy a cd based on the two or three songs I have heard. Most often I end up pissed because the songs I liked were the only ones that are any good. But this cd is very different. On repeated playings, I like it more and more. Never been a big fan of Elvis Costello, I knew who he was and had heard some of his songs, but until this cd, I never felt compelled to purchase a release of his.

Thursday, October 07, 2004

Got an 1 & 1/2 inches of rain today. It started earlier this morning. There were a couple times that the sun peaked out for a moment. Although the rain was a bit heavy, for the most part it was just a light rain.

Wednesday, October 06, 2004

Rodney Dangerfield and Gordon Cooper have also passed away this week.

Wonder who else will pass the pearly gates this week.

Monday, October 04, 2004

Janet Leigh passed away. Will watch either The Fog or The Manchurian Canidate dvd tomorrow.

Billy Joel marries. Katey Segal marries. Tiger Woods is rumored to be getting married. Britney "Oops I did it again and it won't last this time either because he's dirt poor and I didn't lend him the money for my ring" Spears married again.

The Royals suck. The Chiefs suck. KU sucks. My neighbors kid who drives up and down the street with his crappy ultra bass radio (which proves he moron for wasting his money on a worthless radio)and ruins the peace and quiet of a nice area sucks. The television season so far sucks. The Tech tv & G4 merger still sucks. Okay that's enough suckage.

Have been fumbly fingers today. Didn't get enough sleep last night and not nearly enough coffee this morning.

Friday, October 01, 2004

The problem with the car was a vacuum hose with a hole you could stick your thumb into. Got that fixed and now the car runs fine.

Got a light amount of rain early this morning. It didnt amount to very much.

Had some trouble sleeping last night. Can't blame it on the menstral cramps, though.

Monday, September 27, 2004

Looks like we may be needing a new alternator for the car in the very near future. Why does so much seem to ALWAYS happen on a Monday. Guess it's another reason to not like the day. But anyway.

Depression is attempting to take over again. I can only do so well for so long before I just feel like giving in and laying on the ground and crying. Not that I have ever done that, that's just something I came up with. Can't seem to get myself pulled out of the rut I am deeply entrenched in. The DVD's I have purchased recently won't go to waste, I will watch them. It just seems silly (for lack of a better word) to force myself to watch a movie I am not in the mood to watch. I realize there are people that can watch anything, any time and anywhere. But not me. I have to be in the right frame of mind to watch a movie, otherwise I won't enjoy it and I've wasted time that could have been spent on something else.
One cat gets over a virus and another gets it. Hope the others dont get it. I don't feel like making a daily trip to the vets office. The good thing is that the lastest sicky is getting better.

Thursday is my birthday and will be going out to eat someplace nice. Hope the day is pleasant.

Sunday, September 26, 2004

Ran a couple errands yesterday and had a little fun.

Got my drivers license in the mail yesterday. Thought I would have the temp license longer then I did.

Havent done anything exciting, not that I ever do anything exciting, lately.

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Got my drivers license renewed. They have a whole new setup now. I have a paper temporary license, will get my laminated one in the mail within sixty days. Man, I really dont take a good drivers license photo. This one makes me look like I've been arrested. My previous photo made me look like I was doped up on something. Guess a lot of people are not satisfied by their photos.

Saturday, September 18, 2004

Got some rain this morning. Last night the light show started, but it didnt actually start raining until like 4:30 am or so. Total was about an inch for the three hours it rained.

Finally got to the household waste dispoal place this morning and took care of some things we have needed to get rid of for sometime.

Will get out and do some yardwork this afternoon. Dont really feel like it but have to do it anyway.

Thursday, September 16, 2004

I am home from jury duty. Filled out a twenty page survey. The reason I had to go on a Thursday, is the case is special one. Typically, they have people come in on a Monday for most of the cases, but this is different. I have to go back in in October and go through step two of the process. And if I get picked, the case could last as long as a month. So we will see.

Wednesday, September 15, 2004

Got about a half inch of rain this morning, before it cleared up.

I have jury duty tomorrow. Will try and get my drivers license renewed next week.

Tuesday, September 14, 2004

Sunny day number...heck I lost count.

Sergei is doing better, His ear is healing nicely.

Been playing Swingerz Golf on my Gamecube lately. It's a fun game and I say that knowing I dont really care to watch golf on tv...ever.

Got my copy of The Munsters season one last night. It was hard finding it. It's nice to know there are lots of fans of the show out there.

Saturday, September 11, 2004

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Pennsylvania field. The country has grown complacent again. Suicide and car bombers, snipers, one thing or another take place in this world, people live in fear and terror that this country may never know. I do not know what it will take for people in my homeland to realize that it is going to take more than a bandaid to fix our image overseas, it will take more then a few kind words or actions to smooth things over and make things right with other countries. While people come to the USA for the type of freedom they can only dream of where they live, there are thousands of people that hate us and hate what we stand for.

September 11, 2001.......WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

Tuesday, September 07, 2004

The total for the rain we got Sunday is 3/4 of an inch. Still a bit tired from the weekend, not that I did a whole lot.

Have jury duty next week. Have mixed feelings about it. I have served on a jury twice out of the four previous times I've gotten a summons. It would be good to get out of the house and out of the rut I seem stuck in.

Monday, September 06, 2004

Went to the ren. fest yesterday. We got a free ticket because we took some food for Harvesters. It was alright, it was a little too humid to be doing that much walking and there didn't seem to be much in terms of shows and such.

Have to take care of renewing my drivers license before the end of the month. Will have to shoe horn it in someplace.

Will call this week about the start date of my jury duty. The summons says I am to be there on a Thursday. Unless it's an error or something new, jury duty usually started on a Monday.

Sunday, September 05, 2004

It rained briefly this evening, but it was a heavy rain. Some idiot neighbors who had a live band playing badly got rained on. These losers spent much of the afternoon and evening playing the same few songs over and over, never shutting up no matter how many times hey were asked to do so. It seems fitting that they got rained on. Hope some of their equipment got ruined before they could get it inside.

Friday, September 03, 2004

Labor day weekend, the unofficial end to summer. I can imagine people around the country having a cook-out, a party or something fun to do this weekend. We have a couple things fun planned but that's about it.

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

We got Sergei home from the vet last night. He has a punctured ear drum. We have to keep giving the antibiotics until his next check up and now we have to clean his ear every other day as well as put ear drops in every day. Next week we will have him him the vet's office again to see if the ear drum is healing. He isn't crying in pain like he was over the weekend and he is holding his ear better as well. Until he gets over this, he will be on a basic soft food diet. Will probably give him some dry dog food but not much. Our other, older dog Sasha will probably be mad that he's getting more of a special diet then she is but that's tough.

Saturday, August 28, 2004

We got 4 inches of rain last night. The water was flowing down the street. Some parts of the area were closed off due to flooding. Seemed like the rain was never going to stop, but it did. The storm super cell was justing inching along. So this week we have received some 7+ inches of rain just this week. We got a bit of rain in the basement, which I expected. Thursday and Friday were the warmest days of the week, what is surpriseing is that today is cooler. Like 15+ degrees cooler, then what it was yesterday and the humidity isnt as much. The next few days are supposed to be nice, hopefully dry, and I will enjoy them.

Had to take one of our dogs to the vet. Turns out he has a ear infection. He has to go back on Monday for some tests. Think he will be there all day.

After the trip to the vet, we went home and gave Sergei his medication. After a rest, we left to finish our errands. While out, we went to Best Buy. I got a gamecube game and the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Volume 4 set. Nest time I go to Best Buy I will be getting "The Munsters" season one dvd set.

Wednesday, August 25, 2004

From Monday through Tuesday afternoon we got roughly 3 and 1/2 inches of rain. There is a chance we may get more rain today and later in the week. This summer has turned out to be cooler and wetter then normal. I don't think I want to know what fall and winter are going to be like.

Got my mystery Science Theater 3000-The Essentials DVD set in the mail today. It has "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" (which I have never seen) and "Manos-The Hands of Fate" ( I have this on vhs and now I can get rid of it). Manos has a blooper reel. Because I took advantage of getting it through Rhino, I got the MST3K Shorts Volume 3 free. You don't get that when ordering via any place else. So I have something to watch the next couple days.

Tuesday, August 24, 2004

We got a lot of rain yesterday and last night. This morning we are getting enough rain to cause some flash flooding. At this moment rain is still rushing down the street and the rain gauge is getting ever closer to being full. I sure hope it doesnt rain for like a couple weeks. I don't like rain and I don't like it when it pours like this. It's just awful.

Sunday, August 22, 2004

Went to a dog show at the American Royal yesterday. It was fun to see so many cute dogs. We sat and watched some of the judging. A couple dogs had to have been new to shows, because they seemed to be distracted by things.

Most of the morning yesterday we had fog, not a real thick fog though. I like fog, always have. I am not sure what it is about, but I love it so.

Having a bit of Olympics burn out. Probably won't watch much of them today.

Good luck to Maurice Greene. May your feet have wings.

Friday, August 20, 2004

We got roughly 1 and 1/4 inches of rain yesterday. Much of it in the afternoon. Looks like we could get a little more rain today.

Have watched at least a couple hours of Olympic coverage every day since they started. Wish they would show more diving, less swim heat coverage and show some of the other countries competing. While it's nice to see a lot of American events covered, what about the host country, or the countries that don't have but a few athletes. Someday the cover will be a little more even. But I doubt while I am still alive. Still, it's not like anyone pays attention to anything I ever say.

Thursday, August 19, 2004

Got up on the roof yesterday morning on a day that had a high of 93. I mention that because the temperatures have been unseasonably cool this summer and we haven't had the typical killer heat. Anyway, I got up on the roof and got a couple branches off, then I cleaned the stuff out of the valley flashing after that I put some roofing cement on the flashing. It took me about two hours to do that. Although I dislike heights, I managed. If my mom, who prefers to do stuff of the roof if we need to despite her dislike of heights is a little worse on the roof then mine, had done it, it would have been at least twice that time. It looks like rain today and maybe tomorrow, so I am glad I did it. We have some things we want to do this weekend, one thing we have been putting off for some three months. Normally I wouldn't go against my mom's wishes about not getting up on the roof, but I figured it would help to do it myself. COuld help the leak or near leaf we have.

Congratulations to Paul Hamm on his gold medal at the Olympics in Athens.

Monday, August 16, 2004

Have been watching the olympics and have enjoyed what I have seen so far. But there are a few events that I have to wonder about. Namely things like beach volleyball, ping pong, soccer, softball, baseball and basketball ( I don't want to name everything so I will limit it to these few). What will be next, butt scratching, coupon clipping, farting, best use of loud voice where it wasn't needed? Crippes there are some events that really should not be olympic events. That's just my opinion, not that anyone ever listens to anything I ever say.

Saturday, August 14, 2004

Went to get the car looked out this morning. The trouble was a tire, the rear right tire to be exact. We got the bad tire replaced and the other tires balanced. Thankfully, that's all it was. Car rides better now. Good thing we got it fixed, with as much driving as my mom does in a week, wouldn't want her to have a blow out.

Have another headache and this one seems likes it's desperate to stay around. May take a nap this afternoon, which might help.

Been watching some of the olympics. Wish there was a mute button for the commentators. Some of the things they say are some stupid! But thats just me and my opinion.

There are a couple shows on A & E I have been watching that I really love. "Family Plots" and "Airline" are great shows. The "Airline" show is similar to a show on the Discovery Wings channel I have seen called "Airport". Never-the-less, I am surprised at the idiocy of people out there in the rest of America. Well, maybe not surprised. Someone wants to get reimbursment for a tiny tear on their crappy luggage, demand an undeserved upgrade or are freacking surprised that airlines overbook their flights. Overbooking is common practice in the airlines. Wish they wouldn't do it but like they'd listen to me.

Had a headache this morning. Managed to get rid of it.

Watched much of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Loved the floats, would like to see them again.

I had a strange dream this morning and I still remember quite a bit of it which is unusual for me. The dream took place in a neighborhood I used to live in years ago ( I lived in the area from the age of 2 until I was almost 11, it was the first neighborhood I remember). It was around the first day of school and I had moved back to the area for my senior year of high school. Most of the kids at first appeared much younger then me, but as the dream progressed they grew closer to my age. One of the first people, a teacher, that I encountered, remembered me. But I didn't recognize her and couldn't figure out how she knew me. She handed me some papers and walked off. I got up and walked out of the class with everyone else when the bell rang. As I was walking in the hallway, people looked at me and pointed, while talking in hushed tones. I could make out some of what they said, most of it was "there she is" or "I wander what she's doing back here". In the next classroom, I sat in the back. I remember wearing black clothes and a black bandana, both the color and bandana are not normal attire for me. At some point I think I was in the school's office. Another thing I remember is that I didn't recognize most of the people in the school or the school it's self. Most often when I dream of being back in school (I am 35 now), I dream of one of the schools I went to and the layout of them is a little different in my dreams. Don't have a clue as to why I am dreaming of school, I don't have kids. The only thing I can think of is that I was thinking that it was close to the time that local kids will be heading back to school. Maybe that's it.
Yesterday morning I spent some 45 minutes doing yard work. Mostly it was taking care of weeds and mowing. We got a little rain last night, so I am happy I did some yard work. Don't think I would have done any mowing had I waited because mowing as it's raining or after it has rained makes it a little tougher to do it.

Had a headache yesterday, I know it was weather related. It was warmer last week and now we are in a bit of a cool spell.

Got a shelve hung in the bathroom. Had planned to do it Monday, but didn't have the right sized anchors to take care of it. But now it is done and it looks good. Will take care of a few chores this morning before settling in to watch some tapes I am backed up on.

The car has been running a little better now that the radiator has been flushed, but we have another problem. There is some vibration on the right side. I think it is the front tire but it could be the back tire. Of course it could very well be both. Not sure what the problem is or much it's going to cost to fix it. Can only hope the place we regularly go for car repair can help us out. They were a man short last week and were back up on jobs. But we have an alternate plan if they can't help us out.

Sunday, August 08, 2004

Mowed the backyard yesterday afternoon and I am glad I did. It rained most of this morning and I think it might rain a little more today, maybe tomorrow too.

Have a headache and can not seem to shake it. It's not real bad, so I'll manage. There are a few things I would like to do before the day is out.

Saturday, August 07, 2004

Went out to eat last night, was a spur of the moment sort of thing. Nice place but the music is too loud for the staff and patrons to hear very well.

I wanna comment of all these online dating services. First, in my opinion you have to be a loser to do one of those things. Someone who can't live with the being alone. Other people do not make you a complete person. One line I like from a dating service commercial is "I had to be myself", oh you mean you've been someone else all this time. Another funny line is "I placed an order for the perfect person". What? Are you wanting to meet someone for a date or ordering a pizza. After saying this, I am sure someone will say something like "No wonder you still alone" or some other supposedly cutting comment. The fact is is I love being single. If marriage makes you feel happy or makes you feel more like a complete person, fine. But marriage is not for everyone and should not be forced onto anyone.

Soapbox mode off.

Wednesday, August 04, 2004

Today is my moms birthday. She was able to take the day off and we took the car in to get the radiator flushed and get an oil change. Our regular place was booked solid all day and on top of it were a man short. So we went to another place and it was taken care of fairly quick. We did a couple other errands and then went home. She watched a little TV, played around a bit online and rested. This evening we went out, did a little more shopping and ate dinner out. It was a nice day.

The temperature wasn't nearly as bad as it was yesterday. We got about a 1/4 of an inch or so of rain this morning. And the clouds kept coming and going all day. It is supposed to be cooler the next few days and that's fine by me.

We figured Monday's near meltdown of the car (okay so I exaggerate a little), was due to mom driving fast on a hot day with a heat index in triple digits. From now on she's gonna do a little better when driving home when it's hot.

I got "Office Space" and "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Volume 5" (all on DVD) while we were shopping this evening. Will watch a couple other DVD's I bought recently before I get to these lovely things.....Or maybe not.

Voted yesterday and will vote in November. If you don't vote you don't have a right to complain. That's all I will say about politics, because the subjects bores me.

Tuesday, August 03, 2004

My depression is getting worse with every new thing that comes along. The car was getting hot yesterday as my mom sat at an intersection waiting her turn, it cooled down when she was moving. We don't have enough coolant to help out much, of course we can't do anything until the weekend and this is only Tuesday. The car was fine Sunday, but then again I was doing short trips out, mom has to drive over 25 miles (each way) to and from work. The trip in the morning isn't that bad because it's still cool, its the evening trip home that is the killer. Her birthday is tomorrow night and we were going to go out. Will have to baby the car until the weekend when we can do something about it.

Don't you just love companies that make it rather difficult for employees to take time off when they need it most to take care of things that need a quicker response then being done on the weekend.

Monday, August 02, 2004

Got a little rain this morning, nothing measurable. It will probably make the day a little steamier, if nothing else.

Had to bite my tongue (well I didn't actually do it but you know what I mean) while at the local smart. Some older woman in front of me was doing some John Kerry bashing and I had to stop myself from getting into a political fight in the store. There are some fights not worth bothering with and this was one of those. Because no matter what, you can't win at something like that and you may make yourself look foolish. So I kept my cool and was thankful she finished her transaction and left.

Sunday, August 01, 2004

This is all I have to say about the elections....I wish I could vote now and we could end this election year before I strangle someone. I am a registered voter, I vote because I know someday somewhere it will count fer something. But I don't care about this "I'm better qualified, better looking, smarter than you, I hate everything you people stand for..etc..etc.etc" mudslinging bullhockey we are pushed into. That's all I will say.

Saturday, July 31, 2004

Saw two movies today, "The Bourne Supremecy" and "The Village". I will talk of the "The Village" first, it was a slow paced movie that seemed to drag its feet towards the end. I can not prove this to you, after all this is the internet and people believe the strangest most untrue things anyway, but I told my mom what I thought the twist at the end was going to be. This was with me having read or heard no reviews before hand. I won't spoil anything by giving the twist, but my mom was at least impressed that I nailed the twist the way that I did. It was an alright movie, won't be renting it when it's out on DVD. Will not go to another M. Night movie again, though.

Now to "The Bourne Supremecy". Having seen "The Bourne Identity" when it came out and now owing a copy of it on DVD (bought it this evening), I was anxious to see "The Bourne Supremecy". I did enjoy it and will buy the DVD of it when it is released. There was probably a moment here or there where the pace slowed down, but overall I loved it. I may end up seeing it again before it leaves theaters. My only problem was that in some of the action scenes the camera work was to wiggly. What I wanted, was to see the fighting, not feel as though I was apart of the fight. Other than that I really liked the movie, it kept my interest and left me wanting a little more.

Friday, July 30, 2004

Had an odd dream last night, but when do dreams every really make sense. Anyway, I dreamt that I was in a hidden computer lab/room and some folks in black suits and sunglasses came knocking wanting to "talk" with us. Everyone in the lab dismantled a computer rather quickly and got the motherboard before grabbing some diskettes. We then scrambled out of the run via a secret hallway. Once outside we went our separate ways. At some point I was walking towards a park, while there was no one sitting on the benches, but I could tell there were people in an area not far from where I entered the park. When I was in the middle of the park near a fountain, I opened a can of coke (not sure where it came from) and began drinking. As I continued through the park, I could tell that I was being followed. When I got out of the park, I quickened my step and went on a path that cut through some yards. When I got off the path, I crossed the street I came upon and then made my way down a hill. There was another park at the bottom of the hill. I crossed the joggers path and made my way to the pond. At this point it went from being fall to winter as the pond was frozen over and covered with snow and ice. There was a path going cross it which I took advantage of. I looked back to the other side of the pond and saw the guys in black standing there talking, I turned and began to walk up a hill. Even though the streets were icy, traffic was managing pretty well. I don't know where I got it either, but I was listening to a radio that was tuned to some odd morning show type program. That's all I remember because I woke up at that point. Not sure what any of it means.

Wednesday, July 28, 2004

I have been struggling the past couple days with depression. Today has seemed harder to cope with things then yesterday. Pushing a large rock up a hill would be easier then dealing with depression most days.

So far it hasn't rained yet. The only thing on the roof that I know of that needs any repair is the flashing in the valleys. We had the roof done a couple summers ago and for some reason didn't have it replaced. Guess the guy who did it, didn't think it was a problem. Though I don't know why he failed to bring it up. My mom and I share this house and to get her help me out on this project is harder than getting the dead to communicate. We are both in agreement that heights are not a good thing, but I can suck it up when needed to to things that require me being on something high. An I don't mean standing on a skyscraper either. If the money was there to have someone else take care of it, I'm sure she would rather have that happen then to get on the roof. But money being a little tight for both of us, anything we can do ourselves is good.

Tuesday, July 27, 2004

Managed to get rid of my headache, though it was a mild one. I have been trying my best not to let depression get the best of me but I am not doing a very good job of it today.

Mowed the front yard yesterday and mowed the backyard this morning. Rain, or at least chance of rain, has been forecast for the next three days. Which is just great. The lousy clayish soil in our area hasn't fully dried out from the rain we got Saturday.

When I went down to the laundry room to start a load of clothes, I noticed a liitle bit of water seeping in around the pipe that takes the water to the septic tank. It wasn't there when I did a couple loads of laundry yesterday. I sure as heck don't want to have to call someone out to take care of the septic tank but will have too if it gets worse. The rain could amke things worse or I am just making nothing out of nothing.

My moms birthday is next week. Barring anything bad happening in the next few days, we will be going to a couple movies over the weekend, both of her choice, and going to lunch as well. On the evening of her actual birthday we will go out to eat at the restaurant of her choice. All I have to do is remember to make the cake, and not be in total bitch form.

Sunday, July 25, 2004

We got 1 and 3/4's inch of rain yesterday over a period of several hours. It started raining about 4 or 5 am and didnt stop until earlier afternoon. There were a couple periods of heavy rain, but for the most part it was a light rain.

Been reading a lot of the messages on the George Eads and Jorga Fox deal in the CSI yahoo group about the show. Most people seem to favor the stars. I am sorry ( or maybe I am not) but both stars did not make the show. They were support characters that I didn't much care for. I don't hate the actors or the charcters, but had they (the actors) not come back, I wouldn't have missed them. Nobody oversleeps by accident for some three hours. Not in the real world and not too much in Hollywood. Unless you're trying to milk people out of more cash. These people make more than a lot of average people and they are able to do things that average people can not do. They can pretend to be sick or to have overslept and then in the end, they get to keep their job and get more cash. Let's see if a cashier at the grocery store or someone else in the real world can try that and still keep their jobs.

Ok rant mode off and I am breaking this soap box.

Friday, July 23, 2004

The past couple days hasn't been as hot as it was last week or even earlier this week. I doubt it we get to the mid-eighties today. It is suppossed to be a bit cooler for the next few days.

Saw Shrek 2 on Tuesday. It was the second time I have seen it, I caught a couple things I missed the last time I saw it. Don't think it was as funny as the first Shrek. But it was still a good movie.

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

Woke up with a mild headache. Don't know if it means a weather change is afoot or it's an allergy headache. Of course, it could just be a plain old headache.

Because of the heat and heat index today and tomorrow, I am going to be doing only those things that are needed. After that I will fiddle around online, before laying as still as possible. I have stuff to read, watch, listen to so my brain will be slightly entertained. There is even a possiblity of taking a nap.

I will go to the library Saturday and look for something interesting to read. One thing that I love about the library is, if you don't like the book, you haven't spent any money on a it so if you don't like you can return it. May checkout more than just a book or two.

Monday, July 19, 2004

Enjoyed a dinner out after an errand. Although it wasnt that hot, I did like sitting in a cool restaurant and having a light meal.

Allergies have been fairly strong this season, which surprises me. Typically I dont have that many problems when the heat comes into play because it seems to kill much of what I am allergic too. Of course when I win the lotto and am able to afford a house with a purified air system and a large indoor pool, I will have it made, but until then I do what I can.

Saturday, July 17, 2004

We got almost two inches of rain in yesterday mornings storm.  Looks like more rain could be possible this weekend.

Woke up with a headache. Had errands to take care of this morning so I couldn't lay around and moan. Which might have been fun. Even though I have taken something for the pain, I can still feel some pressure.

Not sure what I will do the rest of today. Will try and get somethings done tomorrow. Hopefully next week I can get caught up on some yardwork.

Friday, July 16, 2004

A storm came in earlier this morning and dumped some much needed rain on us. Some areas around town have some high water and our ditch is full, but we got some rain. Havent had any this week. Didnt know if Mother Nature didnt like us anymore, because she was going to let a week go by without giving us some rain.

Earlier in the week was pretty warm. The humidity was the problem. (Humidity is a good thing in moderation). Had deoderant failure a couple days. Will be getting some more powerful deoderant at the gorcery store this weekend. Its a good thing I wasn't out and about, might've had people fleeing from the smell. Not that it was that bad.

Thursday, July 15, 2004

I will never understand why people do what they do anymore then I understand why animals do what they do. I sell books, pottery among other things on eBay. What irritates me is the fact that people can't sit down and write a quick email as to when they will send payment or the fact that they got an item. Would it be so hard to write "Got it. Thanks" or "Will get payment out on such and such day"? Not asking them to right the next great American novel, just want to know that there is a living person on the other end of the line. I mean dead people communicate only so much. If you can take two seconds to bid on something, then why not spend two seconds to write an email to the seller. Ok rant mode off until next time. Have a nice day.

Tuesday, July 13, 2004

The past three days have been fairly hot. Heat indexes has been over 100 degrees. Today is suppossed to be be in the mid-90's. And it already feels like it will get that hot. Humidity hads to the problem, if it was a dry heat it wouldn't be that bad.

Have been vamping for things to do while it's this hot. Some days I am glad we don't have wall to wall A.C., then there are days like this I wish we had it. But it would cost a small fortune. We, along with the pets, are a bit miserable, but it won't be like this all the time.

Saturday, July 10, 2004

We have had a cool summer so far, but it looks like we are going to be getting a bit of a heat wave for at least the next few days. Will alter my schedule to get most of my things done in the morning.

Have some DVDs I still haven't watched, seems silly I know but I have to be in the right frame of mind to watch it otherwise I am just wasting time.

Friday, July 09, 2004

The holiday threw me off my schedule. Then having headaches and depression didnt help either. Will get back on track next week.

With the way the weather has been lately, I havent mowed to much. Not that I ever enjoy mowing mind you, but I know it needs to get done. Had to mow the backyard, a job I usually do on Sundays, this afternoon because I will be doing other things this weekend and didnt want to have a problems with neighbors. Not that it was really bad.

Havent been sleeping well lately. And have been having odd dreams, not that I can recall a great deal of what I dreamt. Some people dont put any stock in what you dream while some people put a lot of stock into what dreams mean. Im sort of in the middle.

Tuesday, July 06, 2004

It started raining sometime this morning and it got heavy enough to put some rain into the basement and fill up the ditch as well as quite a few holes.

Its trash day, Monday was a holiday so they didn't pick up, theres water in the basement and the car won't start. I'm also having a slight panic attack, menstating and to top it off I am fighting depression. Got out on an errand yesterday and had trouble starting the car, was scared I would be stranded and have to walk home to tell mom the car wouldnt start. Was able to get out and back without trouble but it just won't turn over today. Seems things like this come in waves. Can't have one problem to deal with, no that would be too easy.

Monday, July 05, 2004

Yesterday was loud for most of the day and well into the night. We have neighbors that were lighting loud things at 11pm. Some people just don't stop to think what they are doing to other people. Guess that would take a conscience. It was also rather warm yesterday. Thought we might have a cool 4th, but like some many 4ths I remember as a kid...it was hot, humid and still. The over night a storm roared in and dumped half an inch of rain.

Saturday, July 03, 2004

Saw "The Stepford Wives" today. Wanted to go to a movie and picked it, it wasn't too bad. There were a few things that just didn't add up and the last third of the movie dragged on, but overall it was a 2 and one half star movie. Figure its like disaster movie ( which I like a lot) in that certain things aren't meant to make sense, its just mindless fun.

Friday, July 02, 2004

We got about an inch and a quarter to a inch and a half of rain rain over the course of today. The heavest of the rains came this afternoon around four pm.

Forgot to get something while I was at the store last night so I could not make what I had planned. So instead, my mom and I went out to the bank, bought some fireworks and then went to a pizza place for dinner. Those were each seperate places. I dont want to make it sound like we cashed a check, bought fireworks and a pizza all at one place, because that would be just weird. Although there's a place in town that I crack jokes about. You can go in cash a check, buy a gun and some booze, get drunk in the parking lot only to drive off to go shot someone....which isnt funny if it really happens to you.
Sunday is the Fourth. And nothing says America like blowing stuff up to celebrate freedom.

Rain is in the forecast for the next couple days. I have slight headache because of the weather change.

Still in the process of switching stuff from the old computer to the new computer. Also I dont know if I have thought of all the places I have put my email address, in the process of changing ISP's. My luck I will remember something months from now.

Thursday, July 01, 2004

Lost power for about 45 minutes to an hour this morning. There must have been a surge just before we lost power because one of my vcrs is acting up. Maybe its just a fluke.

Tuesday, June 29, 2004

We got a half inch of rain Sunday, it prevented me getting out and doing any yardwork.

The new computer is running smoothly. Will get some rebates in the mail later in the week. No wonder some people dont do rebates. They make it so hard to fulfill the requirements that it becomes frustrating. Of course, if manufactors just lowered the price and skipped the rebates it would be a better deal. Companies count on people not doing rebates. So it works out for them.

Wednesday, June 23, 2004

Finished putting the final touches on my room. The lighter paint on my rooms wall looks good and makes the ceiling stand out more. Now I hope I stay happy with this painting job for a couple years because I dont know how anxious I am gonna be to do it again.

Got the DSL up and running at 1 am this morning. We went out and got a longer ethernet cable last night and nearly returned it. After a little cussing and stomping, got everything up and running smoothly.

Had a headache yesterday and another one this morning. Still having trouble sleeping. The nap I took this afternoon may come back and bite me in the butt. I am not used to staying up until 1 am, usually in bed by 9:30 pm. My mom is the night owl.

Monday, June 21, 2004

Painted the ceiling in my room. The darker color I have in my room washes out the color of the ceiling. I think that when I paint the walls it should be better.

I feel bad for the clerk at the Best Buy. It looks like the computer we were all set to buy was out of stock or a closure deal, not sure what the true story is, but we may not have ever gotten the computer we had ordered earlier in the month. Now all we have to do with this computer is get the DSL up and running.

Saturday, June 19, 2004

We got about an inch of rain in a early Friday morning rain. Think that brings the weeks total up to about 3 inches. Could not mow like I needed because the grass was too damp.

Allergies have been giving me fits lately. Sneezing several times in a row is never fun regardless of if its a cold or allergies youre dealing with.

Last week went with my mom to Best Buy to get a new mouse (got a nifty optical one) and a new keyboard for the current computer. While we were there, started pricing and ended up ordering a new HP computer and SBC Yahoo dsl. Well the computer was supposed to on the truck Tuesday and then Friday (yesterday) and it wasnt. Called the store to find it might be on the truck nest week. We drove back to the store and found the particular model we had purchased was no longer on the shelves which is not a good sign. So ended up returning the phantom computer, getting one they did have in stock and then getting that computer set up with some software. So today we will be putting it together. The deal we got last night wasnt too much more (after rebates and all) then the one we bought last week and on top of that we get a new printer.

Wednesday, June 16, 2004

Got rain earlier in the week. Monday the rain was heavy, but for a short period of time. Got about an inch inside of an hour. Was drivin in one area around town and drove through water I really shouldmt have, made it by the skin of my teeth. Was lucky I didnt flood the car out.

Am painting in my room this week. Painting the ceiling one color and the walls another. The ceiling is a nightmake because the builders put this nasty stucco (or whatever the heck is) crap on the ceilings and so the stuff is peeling off as I painting. Making it harder to painting and making it take longer then it should. Will have to chip off what I can and then do a second coat. Which I was going to do anyway.

Friday, June 11, 2004

I have a headache from hell. Its a nice weather related headache.

Sad to hear that Ray Charles past away. Quite a legend. Rest in peace, Ray.

Pulled a tick off my hip last night. Ouch!!

Bought a new computer last night and will be getting SBC Yahoo as my ISP with the new computer.

Got a new game for my gamecube, NamcomMuseum. It has Pacman, Galaga and Dig Dug as well as other games. Havent played some of the games on this disc since the days of the quarter arcade.

It rained Wednesday and Thursday, we got about 1 and 3/4 inches of rain or there about over those two days.

The updated version of The Stepford Wives opens today, the original was a crappy movie so I dont know what they couldve done to have improved it. Wish Hollywood would try and make movies based on original ideas instead of updating movies because they cant think of anything better do. Glad the colorizing old movies faze is gone, because there is nothing wrong with a black and white film. Reminds me of a Family Guy episode where Ted Turner is seen at a press conference and he says something like "...and Ive colorized the moon".

Wednesday, June 09, 2004

Got some rain today. First time this month it has rained. I think it rained a little bit on Tuesday, but that doesnt count.

Sunday, June 06, 2004

Got out and did some errands yesterday and then did a couple chores around the house. Boring stuff but it has to be done.

Mowed the backyard this morning. Will probably just putter around the house the rest of the day.

The g4 & techtv merger is apparently complete and the show lineup sucks. I dont know if I will watch the channel that much. To many of the techtv shows got killed off and to many of the g4 shows survived during the whole deal and so now we have major suckage. I miss Call For Help and Tech Live. Of well, they dont seem to pay attention to people like me.

Friday, June 04, 2004

Still enjoying my gamecube. Now that I have a memory card, I can save my games. The Simpsons hit & run is great. May have to pick up or at least rent Grand Theft Auto.

Have no idea what I will do this weekend, other than some chores. I am not sure if I want to see the movie Day After Tomorrow. I love disaster movies, though.

Got my Futurama Season One boxset on Wednesday. Finished watching it this afternoon. Will get the other seasons later on.

Tuesday, June 01, 2004

It looked like we might get some rain last night and even this morning. But nothing happened. The weather did give me a headache, so I guess it did do something.

Got a gamecube yesterday. I wish manufacturers would print a list of things that you might need on the side of the box so you dont make 5 trips out in one afternoon looking for that item you didnt know you needed until you tried one thing or another and failed to get the product operational. But I guess that would take the fun out of things wouldnt it.

Saturday, May 29, 2004

I would like to thank all the veterans out there for my freedom. You risked your life so that we could be free. Thank you for your service to our country.

Tuesday, May 25, 2004

We were sandwiched between two storm cells last night, one to the north and the other to the south. The wind was light, as was the rain. We got just shy of half of an inch of rain last night. Some damage from the storms in surrounding areas. Guess we got lucky. The lighting was great.

I would like to know why I have dreams about being in school every now and again. Last night, I had a dream about being in high school. Dont really remember much in terms of details, though. I am sure that I am not the only one that has recurring dreams or recurring themes in dreams. I dont get much in terms of really bad dreams or nightmares. Every so often I will get a dream that begins to go bad, but I make myself wake up or I change aspects of the dream.

Monday, May 24, 2004

Will get caught up on some of my DVDs this week. Have bought a few recently and havent had the time to watch them so will do it this week.

I like hardware, electronic and office supply stores. Yet I dont like shopping for clothes unless I have to.

Sunday, May 23, 2004

Had a short thunderstorm roll through last night. A loud crack of thunder woke me up. The rain didnt last that long it was just a brief storm, not much in the rain gauge. It's kind of funny though, it rained hard and quick, yet didnt really amount to much. The wind had been blowing in this little mini me storm for at least an hour prior to me falling asleep.

Got some yardwork done, stuff I couldnt do last week because of rain and mud. Also finished up a project that was started yesterday but was to tired to finish before going to a movie.

Watched the Daytime Emmy award show friday. Well not all of it, was flipping back and forth from that show and a couple others that I was watching with passing interest. Anyway, was sort hoping one of the women would slip on that ultra shiny stage. I know thats bad, but it would have been mildly funny to my little brain.

Saw Shrek 2 today...yes I saw it...and I am 35...so what. Ouch to many dots sorry. It was pretty good.

Did some yardwork this morning before getting cleaned up and going out. One thing I want to know is why do hardware ( or stores in general) not put things in a more logical set up. Case in point, wanted to buy soemthing to help clean out gutters ( sorry I am not spending cash to put up something goofy..at least not yet anyway) and there isnt anything to help in that task where you'd think it would be if they have it at all. Last time we went to this one hardware store, they had the gutter cleaner do-hickey with the lightbulbs.

Thunderstorms came into the area and dumped a heck of a lot more rain onto us during the early morning. Here at the house we got just a bit shy of 3 inches. Some parts of the area got as much as 5 inches or more. Looks sort of like it may do a little more before the clouds part. So in the past week and a half we have received toughly 7 inches of rain or there abouts. And I am sick of it. Of course I am not the only one.

Chalk up about 1 & 1/2 inch of gully washer rain this morning. It doesnt know what it wants to do out there at the moment. But I put my vote for some sun.

Didn't get any yard work done, but I did mop in the basement.

I am almost finished with Ridin High, Livin Free by Sonny Barger. It's an interesting read. Don't know what it is,maybe its the sound..but I like motorcycles...Harleys in particular. Bought a couple issues of Hot Bike while I was out getting some supplies last night. It wasnt until I got them home and was eating dinner that I noticed that they were mags for the harley enthusiast. Pretty sweet looking bikes featured in both.

It was a nice weekend. Got some yardwork taken care of, took one of the cats to the vet (and he didnt want to go) and got caught up on some filing.

We got something in the neighborhood of 2 & 1/2 to 3 inches oh rain last week and we are probably going to get more rain today and tomorrow. To much rain in one time when we really dont need that much means we will get almost nothing when we really could use it. Happens all the time or at least seems like it.

Saw the Laws of Attraction last week and it was good. It was better then I expected. Will try and see Shrek 2 over this weekend. Used to be that I went to the movies fairly often, but I find myself going less due to the lack of anything really interesting coming out anymore. Sometimes I can find a gem while watching tv or while perusing the shelves at the video store. Case in point....had read about SLC Punk in a magazine, saw it in the video store, rented it and now its a favorite movie of mine. It may not be the best movie, but it is entertaining.

Got a brief shower of rain this afternoon. More rain is due in Thursday and I think even Friday.

Recently I took up knitting. I have finished a scarf for my Mom and I am currently working on a scarf for myself. I like knittting because, like crocheting which I also do, it relaxes me a bit.

Monday, May 10, 2004

We got 1 & 1/4 inches of rain this morning. Now the sun is out. More rain is due later in the week.

Did some work in the yard this weekend. Planted some seeds and hope something will grow.

I suffer from bouts of depression now and again and have since...well as long as I can remember.

I can feel the bouts coming on..I call it my "Veil of darkness" because it seems nothing from the outside world that's good or positive is allowed in, only the dark stuff on which this stuff feeds on. It varies how long the bouts last...but it is never for more then a a couple days...certainly never a week or more.

My game plan when in the midst of a bout is to do something that makes me feel better...like watch something funny, listen to a favorite cd and so on. 8 times out of 10 it works. It helps ease my mind...helps me forget about stuff I am on my mind ..some of which I can't change.

Would it be alright if I poured cement over the entire lawn and called it a day? Well, maybe not over the *entire* lawn. I would have sections open for flower beds. The rest would be cement. What I could do is paint it a deep green, put yellow spots here and there for the dandilion look. Maybe even have a crab grass area. Every few months or so, I could repair any cracks, paint over it in need be. Would be a whole heck of a lot easier than mowing, weeding, watering, planting, seeding et al, that one needs when dealing with a lawn.

BTW, happy Cinco De Mayo.

It has been one year since an F4 tornado ripped through the area. Living in the midwest of America, particularly Kansas, I am used to weird weather and certainly used to severe weather. But, this is the first time I have had that big of a tornado come that close (within 3-4 miles) to where I happened to be at the time one came down.

Back in 1980 (or there abouts),we had a really bad storm that did a lot of damage. I don't remember if it was tornado or not but there was a lot of damage in the area. A neighbor had a tall, maybe 75 feet in height, metal windmill that was sheered in half. There were downed trees, power lines and some small buildings.

The power of Mother Nature is a mighty thing.

It rained a little yesterday...it was a nice gentle rain. Today and Saturday it is supposed to rain a little more. It looks like it rained some last night. At one point we had some light fog. I like fog.

I am about half way on my first knitted scarf. I have tried knitting before but lost interest. It wasnt too hard for me to pick it up since I crochet. Once I get this scarf done, I will try and knit something from a pattern.

Winds was gusting up to 40 MPH today. Made it hard to do much outside. Must be blowing something in....like rain.

Tuesday, April 27, 2004

I like disaster movies and true crime books...wonder what that says about me.

Some of the Irises are blooming. This may be a banner year for them this year. It has been a long time since we have had more then a dozen or so blooms.

The following sites are fun sites to browse:

We got some much needed rain on Tuesday (about an inch), then Thursday (yesterday) we got a little more rain. Now today and Saturday we are set to get more rain. I know we need the rain, but do we really need to get this much rain in one week? I can't do laundry and I can't keep the windows open as long as I would like. I think I will stop complaining. We very well could not get rain when we need it in summer, so I think I will shut up and enjoy it.

Leo LaPorte is back on TechTv. But it may only be temporary. When Chris Pirillo was in for a show or two, I did watch. Didn't know if I would like him being back on the show, but he had calmed down and did a good job. If Leo is not back as the permanent host of the show and they bring back Chris, I may end up watching the show with him. (Ok, I doubt that makes sense. But thats me for ya)

Got a little bit of rain yesterday. The wind started blowing hard late Saturday night and was at times strong enough to straighten out a pigs tail.

Did some yardwork and finally got around to cleaning out the garage.

It went from cool earlier in the week to rather warm by weeks end, last week. It is supposed to be more normal weather wise this week.

Took my dogs to the vets office on Saturday. They are Siberian Huskies and while very nice dogs, they are nuts when in the car and in the vets office. They got their yearly shots and a checkup while they were there.

Sunday, April 11, 2004

Mowed for the second time this week. Today I mowed the backyard. Was happy that it is a nice sunny Sunday. We got a little rain yesterday. The clouds didnt break until late in the day.

The tulips in the side yard are doing well. Will have a few new ones later in the week. Hopefully the iris plants will do good this year.

Saturday, April 10, 2004

Cant deceide what color to paint my room. You'd think it would be easy but not for me.

More tulips have bloomed.

A little morning rain and the clouds moved out late in the afternoon. More of the tulips planted last year have bloomed.

Thursday, April 08, 2004

The daffodils are waning but the tulips are coming on strong.

Leo LaPorte is no longer with with TechTv. Its sad, I really liked him. And I liked him as the host of Call For Help then Chris Pirillo. I know Comcast (or Vulcan) has purchased TechTv and the gamers channel G4 is now a sister station to TechTv. Used to watch G4 (mostly Portal and G4tv.com), but found the often repeated shows to much for me.

If they bring Pirillo back on Call For Help, I dont know if watch it again. I think I will just shut up and play it by ear.

Change can be good but sometimes change is wrong.

Painted the dining room and kitchen over the weekend. I had painted a little bit of the kitchen with a couple accent colors (snapdragon-a yellow- and goldfish-an orange) earlier in the week. The rest of the kitchen and dining room were painted raw silk-a creamy white with yellow undertones. Now the only room left in the house to paint in my bedroom. The last time I painted it, I picked semi-gloss which seemed to accent all the defects in the walls. Now all I need to do is pick the right color and maybe in flat this time.

I don't mind cloudy days.....as long as they aren't too many of them in a row. I can't remember the last time I've seen a completely sunny day.

"UFOs over New York and I aint too surprised."

"The futures uncertain and the end is always near."

"My friends are gonna be there too."

Saturday, March 27, 2004

Got a bit of much needed rain today. More rain in the forecast for tomorrow. I like spring storms. As long as it doesnt snow again...okay now I've doomed us.

The daffodils are blooming and other flowers are coming up or are ready to pop. The grass is greener than it was a couple weeks ago and the trees are greening up. Ah...theres nothing like early spring. I don't care if I'm sneezing...it still looks awfully pretty out there.

Friday, March 26, 2004

It's still March and I am already sick of the political machine. I will vote, but I hate the fact the mudslinging will get heavier and more nasty as the days pass. This is a joke but can I vote for the Homer J. Simpson-Peter Griffin ticket? Okay, yes they are animated.....but could they do any worse then the people we have in office already?

Tuesday, March 23, 2004

Saw Eternal sunshine on the spotless mind over the weekend. It was pretty good.

Wish Access software hadn't been swallowed up by Microsoft. I would love to have a new Tex Murphy game to fiddle around with. I am not the brightest bulb so I can't get Under A Killing Moon to play, but I can still play Pandora's Directive and Overseer. Haven't tried the two earlier Tex Games, Martian memorandum or Mean Streets. I forget at the moment which of the two games I don't have. (I think its mean streets.)

Overseer ended with a bit of a cliffhanger that I am almost certain would have been cleared up in a game following it. I remember reading some fansites about at least one of the games that was to follow Overseer. If I remember correctly (and I am sure I am wrong about this) , but it seems that the name of the game would have been something like Black Pearl or Black Sun Ascending.

I loved the three games Tex Murphy games I have played and still own. They are very much cherished by me. Yes, it may be silly to cherish something like this, but I do. There are other fans of these games out there. Alas, though, we are a dying breed. The company that produced these games is gone and any hope of a new game has floated away on the breeze. The fansites have for the most part been abandoned like an unwanted child at the grocery store. It's hard to let some things go.

Spring is in the air...flowers are in bloom or are about to bloom...grass is greening up.....and my spring allergies are back for another year.

Friday, March 19, 2004

Some of my favorites shows- American Chopper, American Hot Rod, Monster Garage, Monster House, Monster Nation, Mythbusters, Historys Mysteries, Good Eats, Unwrapped, Call For Help, The Screensavers, Xplay, CSI:crime scene investigation, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Futurama, Ground Force, Whose wedding is it anyway? and Discovery Quest.

After some three days of clouds and rain we finally have wonderful sunshine.

My advice for some good....and free... software are the following:
AVG antivirus software,
Zone Alarm firewall,
Spybot search and destroy and finally
ad-aware.
All of these programs are great and best of all free. Now I realize that spybot and ad-aware are programs that do similar things...BUT I have found that one will find something the other didnt. While (esp. in government) redundancy is not always a good thing...in this case it's good. Besides with spybot you can immunize your computer from bad sites. All four have regular updates too.

The past week has gone by in a blink of an eye. Didnt seem I was even that busy.

Sunday, February 22, 2004

Saw the George Catlin exhibt at the Nelson-Atkins yesterday. A few stupid people were there as well. One comment I heard was "There sure are a lot of Indians". Um.....like duh. You're at a exhibit of paintings featuring Native Americans...what did you expect?? To view surreal paintings of fruit on a beach...sheesh.

I would like to smack some weather forecasters in the back of the head with a brick.....okay maybe with just my hand. We had a forecast of flurries and ended up with like 3 inches. Wow, some flurries.

Weather forecasting is akin to playing lotto, only you dont lose any money. One week they forecast a mega storm and we get nothing. The next week they want to save their butts and play down the weather and we get the weather they forecasted the week before. And in the meantime, people are at the grocery stores stocking up as many supplies they can shove in a cart because they think (and wrongly) that they won't be able to get out until spring. At best, most people won't be able to get out for a day or two.

Aye, once I win the lotto...I'm gonna head to a warmer climate. And more than likely complain about that too.

Nice sunny day here in my section of the midwest.

Counting the days until baseball season starts. Already miss football. Its how many days until training camp starts?
