We got Sergei home from the vet last night. He has a punctured ear drum. We have to keep giving the antibiotics until his next check up and now we have to clean his ear every other day as well as put ear drops in every day. Next week we will have him him the vet's office again to see if the ear drum is healing. He isn't crying in pain like he was over the weekend and he is holding his ear better as well. Until he gets over this, he will be on a basic soft food diet. Will probably give him some dry dog food but not much. Our other, older dog Sasha will probably be mad that he's getting more of a special diet then she is but that's tough.

We got 4 inches of rain last night. The water was flowing down the street. Some parts of the area were closed off due to flooding. Seemed like the rain was never going to stop, but it did. The storm super cell was justing inching along. So this week we have received some 7+ inches of rain just this week. We got a bit of rain in the basement, which I expected. Thursday and Friday were the warmest days of the week, what is surpriseing is that today is cooler. Like 15+ degrees cooler, then what it was yesterday and the humidity isnt as much. The next few days are supposed to be nice, hopefully dry, and I will enjoy them.

Had to take one of our dogs to the vet. Turns out he has a ear infection. He has to go back on Monday for some tests. Think he will be there all day.

After the trip to the vet, we went home and gave Sergei his medication. After a rest, we left to finish our errands. While out, we went to Best Buy. I got a gamecube game and the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Volume 4 set. Nest time I go to Best Buy I will be getting "The Munsters" season one dvd set.

From Monday through Tuesday afternoon we got roughly 3 and 1/2 inches of rain. There is a chance we may get more rain today and later in the week. This summer has turned out to be cooler and wetter then normal. I don't think I want to know what fall and winter are going to be like.

Got my mystery Science Theater 3000-The Essentials DVD set in the mail today. It has "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" (which I have never seen) and "Manos-The Hands of Fate" ( I have this on vhs and now I can get rid of it). Manos has a blooper reel. Because I took advantage of getting it through Rhino, I got the MST3K Shorts Volume 3 free. You don't get that when ordering via any place else. So I have something to watch the next couple days.

We got a lot of rain yesterday and last night. This morning we are getting enough rain to cause some flash flooding. At this moment rain is still rushing down the street and the rain gauge is getting ever closer to being full. I sure hope it doesnt rain for like a couple weeks. I don't like rain and I don't like it when it pours like this. It's just awful.

Went to a dog show at the American Royal yesterday. It was fun to see so many cute dogs. We sat and watched some of the judging. A couple dogs had to have been new to shows, because they seemed to be distracted by things.

Most of the morning yesterday we had fog, not a real thick fog though. I like fog, always have. I am not sure what it is about, but I love it so.

Having a bit of Olympics burn out. Probably won't watch much of them today.

Good luck to Maurice Greene. May your feet have wings.

We got roughly 1 and 1/4 inches of rain yesterday. Much of it in the afternoon. Looks like we could get a little more rain today.

Have watched at least a couple hours of Olympic coverage every day since they started. Wish they would show more diving, less swim heat coverage and show some of the other countries competing. While it's nice to see a lot of American events covered, what about the host country, or the countries that don't have but a few athletes. Someday the cover will be a little more even. But I doubt while I am still alive. Still, it's not like anyone pays attention to anything I ever say.

Got up on the roof yesterday morning on a day that had a high of 93. I mention that because the temperatures have been unseasonably cool this summer and we haven't had the typical killer heat. Anyway, I got up on the roof and got a couple branches off, then I cleaned the stuff out of the valley flashing after that I put some roofing cement on the flashing. It took me about two hours to do that. Although I dislike heights, I managed. If my mom, who prefers to do stuff of the roof if we need to despite her dislike of heights is a little worse on the roof then mine, had done it, it would have been at least twice that time. It looks like rain today and maybe tomorrow, so I am glad I did it. We have some things we want to do this weekend, one thing we have been putting off for some three months. Normally I wouldn't go against my mom's wishes about not getting up on the roof, but I figured it would help to do it myself. COuld help the leak or near leaf we have.

Congratulations to Paul Hamm on his gold medal at the Olympics in Athens.

Have been watching the olympics and have enjoyed what I have seen so far. But there are a few events that I have to wonder about. Namely things like beach volleyball, ping pong, soccer, softball, baseball and basketball ( I don't want to name everything so I will limit it to these few). What will be next, butt scratching, coupon clipping, farting, best use of loud voice where it wasn't needed? Crippes there are some events that really should not be olympic events. That's just my opinion, not that anyone ever listens to anything I ever say.

Went to get the car looked out this morning. The trouble was a tire, the rear right tire to be exact. We got the bad tire replaced and the other tires balanced. Thankfully, that's all it was. Car rides better now. Good thing we got it fixed, with as much driving as my mom does in a week, wouldn't want her to have a blow out.

Have another headache and this one seems likes it's desperate to stay around. May take a nap this afternoon, which might help.

Been watching some of the olympics. Wish there was a mute button for the commentators. Some of the things they say are some stupid! But thats just me and my opinion.

There are a couple shows on A & E I have been watching that I really love. "Family Plots" and "Airline" are great shows. The "Airline" show is similar to a show on the Discovery Wings channel I have seen called "Airport". Never-the-less, I am surprised at the idiocy of people out there in the rest of America. Well, maybe not surprised. Someone wants to get reimbursment for a tiny tear on their crappy luggage, demand an undeserved upgrade or are freacking surprised that airlines overbook their flights. Overbooking is common practice in the airlines. Wish they wouldn't do it but like they'd listen to me.

Had a headache this morning. Managed to get rid of it.

Watched much of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Loved the floats, would like to see them again.

I had a strange dream this morning and I still remember quite a bit of it which is unusual for me. The dream took place in a neighborhood I used to live in years ago ( I lived in the area from the age of 2 until I was almost 11, it was the first neighborhood I remember). It was around the first day of school and I had moved back to the area for my senior year of high school. Most of the kids at first appeared much younger then me, but as the dream progressed they grew closer to my age. One of the first people, a teacher, that I encountered, remembered me. But I didn't recognize her and couldn't figure out how she knew me. She handed me some papers and walked off. I got up and walked out of the class with everyone else when the bell rang. As I was walking in the hallway, people looked at me and pointed, while talking in hushed tones. I could make out some of what they said, most of it was "there she is" or "I wander what she's doing back here". In the next classroom, I sat in the back. I remember wearing black clothes and a black bandana, both the color and bandana are not normal attire for me. At some point I think I was in the school's office. Another thing I remember is that I didn't recognize most of the people in the school or the school it's self. Most often when I dream of being back in school (I am 35 now), I dream of one of the schools I went to and the layout of them is a little different in my dreams. Don't have a clue as to why I am dreaming of school, I don't have kids. The only thing I can think of is that I was thinking that it was close to the time that local kids will be heading back to school. Maybe that's it.
Yesterday morning I spent some 45 minutes doing yard work. Mostly it was taking care of weeds and mowing. We got a little rain last night, so I am happy I did some yard work. Don't think I would have done any mowing had I waited because mowing as it's raining or after it has rained makes it a little tougher to do it.

Had a headache yesterday, I know it was weather related. It was warmer last week and now we are in a bit of a cool spell.

Got a shelve hung in the bathroom. Had planned to do it Monday, but didn't have the right sized anchors to take care of it. But now it is done and it looks good. Will take care of a few chores this morning before settling in to watch some tapes I am backed up on.

The car has been running a little better now that the radiator has been flushed, but we have another problem. There is some vibration on the right side. I think it is the front tire but it could be the back tire. Of course it could very well be both. Not sure what the problem is or much it's going to cost to fix it. Can only hope the place we regularly go for car repair can help us out. They were a man short last week and were back up on jobs. But we have an alternate plan if they can't help us out.

Mowed the backyard yesterday afternoon and I am glad I did. It rained most of this morning and I think it might rain a little more today, maybe tomorrow too.

Have a headache and can not seem to shake it. It's not real bad, so I'll manage. There are a few things I would like to do before the day is out.

Went out to eat last night, was a spur of the moment sort of thing. Nice place but the music is too loud for the staff and patrons to hear very well.

I wanna comment of all these online dating services. First, in my opinion you have to be a loser to do one of those things. Someone who can't live with the being alone. Other people do not make you a complete person. One line I like from a dating service commercial is "I had to be myself", oh you mean you've been someone else all this time. Another funny line is "I placed an order for the perfect person". What? Are you wanting to meet someone for a date or ordering a pizza. After saying this, I am sure someone will say something like "No wonder you still alone" or some other supposedly cutting comment. The fact is is I love being single. If marriage makes you feel happy or makes you feel more like a complete person, fine. But marriage is not for everyone and should not be forced onto anyone.

Soapbox mode off.

Today is my moms birthday. She was able to take the day off and we took the car in to get the radiator flushed and get an oil change. Our regular place was booked solid all day and on top of it were a man short. So we went to another place and it was taken care of fairly quick. We did a couple other errands and then went home. She watched a little TV, played around a bit online and rested. This evening we went out, did a little more shopping and ate dinner out. It was a nice day.

The temperature wasn't nearly as bad as it was yesterday. We got about a 1/4 of an inch or so of rain this morning. And the clouds kept coming and going all day. It is supposed to be cooler the next few days and that's fine by me.

We figured Monday's near meltdown of the car (okay so I exaggerate a little), was due to mom driving fast on a hot day with a heat index in triple digits. From now on she's gonna do a little better when driving home when it's hot.

I got "Office Space" and "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Volume 5" (all on DVD) while we were shopping this evening. Will watch a couple other DVD's I bought recently before I get to these lovely things.....Or maybe not.

Voted yesterday and will vote in November. If you don't vote you don't have a right to complain. That's all I will say about politics, because the subjects bores me.

My depression is getting worse with every new thing that comes along. The car was getting hot yesterday as my mom sat at an intersection waiting her turn, it cooled down when she was moving. We don't have enough coolant to help out much, of course we can't do anything until the weekend and this is only Tuesday. The car was fine Sunday, but then again I was doing short trips out, mom has to drive over 25 miles (each way) to and from work. The trip in the morning isn't that bad because it's still cool, its the evening trip home that is the killer. Her birthday is tomorrow night and we were going to go out. Will have to baby the car until the weekend when we can do something about it.

Don't you just love companies that make it rather difficult for employees to take time off when they need it most to take care of things that need a quicker response then being done on the weekend.

Got a little rain this morning, nothing measurable. It will probably make the day a little steamier, if nothing else.

Had to bite my tongue (well I didn't actually do it but you know what I mean) while at the local smart. Some older woman in front of me was doing some John Kerry bashing and I had to stop myself from getting into a political fight in the store. There are some fights not worth bothering with and this was one of those. Because no matter what, you can't win at something like that and you may make yourself look foolish. So I kept my cool and was thankful she finished her transaction and left.

This is all I have to say about the elections....I wish I could vote now and we could end this election year before I strangle someone. I am a registered voter, I vote because I know someday somewhere it will count fer something. But I don't care about this "I'm better qualified, better looking, smarter than you, I hate everything you people stand for..etc..etc.etc" mudslinging bullhockey we are pushed into. That's all I will say.
