We were sandwiched between two storm cells last night, one to the north and the other to the south. The wind was light, as was the rain. We got just shy of half of an inch of rain last night. Some damage from the storms in surrounding areas. Guess we got lucky. The lighting was great.
I would like to know why I have dreams about being in school every now and again. Last night, I had a dream about being in high school. Dont really remember much in terms of details, though. I am sure that I am not the only one that has recurring dreams or recurring themes in dreams. I dont get much in terms of really bad dreams or nightmares. Every so often I will get a dream that begins to go bad, but I make myself wake up or I change aspects of the dream.

Had a short thunderstorm roll through last night. A loud crack of thunder woke me up. The rain didnt last that long it was just a brief storm, not much in the rain gauge. It's kind of funny though, it rained hard and quick, yet didnt really amount to much. The wind had been blowing in this little mini me storm for at least an hour prior to me falling asleep.
Got some yardwork done, stuff I couldnt do last week because of rain and mud. Also finished up a project that was started yesterday but was to tired to finish before going to a movie.
Watched the Daytime Emmy award show friday. Well not all of it, was flipping back and forth from that show and a couple others that I was watching with passing interest. Anyway, was sort hoping one of the women would slip on that ultra shiny stage. I know thats bad, but it would have been mildly funny to my little brain.

Saw Shrek 2 today...yes I saw it...and I am 35...so what. Ouch to many dots sorry. It was pretty good.
Did some yardwork this morning before getting cleaned up and going out. One thing I want to know is why do hardware ( or stores in general) not put things in a more logical set up. Case in point, wanted to buy soemthing to help clean out gutters ( sorry I am not spending cash to put up something goofy..at least not yet anyway) and there isnt anything to help in that task where you'd think it would be if they have it at all. Last time we went to this one hardware store, they had the gutter cleaner do-hickey with the lightbulbs.

Thunderstorms came into the area and dumped a heck of a lot more rain onto us during the early morning. Here at the house we got just a bit shy of 3 inches. Some parts of the area got as much as 5 inches or more. Looks sort of like it may do a little more before the clouds part. So in the past week and a half we have received toughly 7 inches of rain or there abouts. And I am sick of it. Of course I am not the only one.

Chalk up about 1 & 1/2 inch of gully washer rain this morning. It doesnt know what it wants to do out there at the moment. But I put my vote for some sun.
Didn't get any yard work done, but I did mop in the basement.
I am almost finished with Ridin High, Livin Free by Sonny Barger. It's an interesting read. Don't know what it is,maybe its the sound..but I like motorcycles...Harleys in particular. Bought a couple issues of Hot Bike while I was out getting some supplies last night. It wasnt until I got them home and was eating dinner that I noticed that they were mags for the harley enthusiast. Pretty sweet looking bikes featured in both.

It was a nice weekend. Got some yardwork taken care of, took one of the cats to the vet (and he didnt want to go) and got caught up on some filing.
We got something in the neighborhood of 2 & 1/2 to 3 inches oh rain last week and we are probably going to get more rain today and tomorrow. To much rain in one time when we really dont need that much means we will get almost nothing when we really could use it. Happens all the time or at least seems like it.
Saw the Laws of Attraction last week and it was good. It was better then I expected. Will try and see Shrek 2 over this weekend. Used to be that I went to the movies fairly often, but I find myself going less due to the lack of anything really interesting coming out anymore. Sometimes I can find a gem while watching tv or while perusing the shelves at the video store. Case in point....had read about SLC Punk in a magazine, saw it in the video store, rented it and now its a favorite movie of mine. It may not be the best movie, but it is entertaining.

I suffer from bouts of depression now and again and have since...well as long as I can remember.
I can feel the bouts coming on..I call it my "Veil of darkness" because it seems nothing from the outside world that's good or positive is allowed in, only the dark stuff on which this stuff feeds on. It varies how long the bouts last...but it is never for more then a a couple days...certainly never a week or more.
My game plan when in the midst of a bout is to do something that makes me feel better...like watch something funny, listen to a favorite cd and so on. 8 times out of 10 it works. It helps ease my mind...helps me forget about stuff I am on my mind ..some of which I can't change.

Would it be alright if I poured cement over the entire lawn and called it a day? Well, maybe not over the *entire* lawn. I would have sections open for flower beds. The rest would be cement. What I could do is paint it a deep green, put yellow spots here and there for the dandilion look. Maybe even have a crab grass area. Every few months or so, I could repair any cracks, paint over it in need be. Would be a whole heck of a lot easier than mowing, weeding, watering, planting, seeding et al, that one needs when dealing with a lawn.
BTW, happy Cinco De Mayo.

It has been one year since an F4 tornado ripped through the area. Living in the midwest of America, particularly Kansas, I am used to weird weather and certainly used to severe weather. But, this is the first time I have had that big of a tornado come that close (within 3-4 miles) to where I happened to be at the time one came down.
Back in 1980 (or there abouts),we had a really bad storm that did a lot of damage. I don't remember if it was tornado or not but there was a lot of damage in the area. A neighbor had a tall, maybe 75 feet in height, metal windmill that was sheered in half. There were downed trees, power lines and some small buildings.
The power of Mother Nature is a mighty thing.
